Hardly Lady Like Behavior

Remember I mentioned that I wore a dress the other day?

Well, it turns out you can put someone in a dress but that doesn’t mean she acts like a lady while wearing it.

It was after dinner and before the dancing started. There was a presentation going on at the front of the room, which was basically at my back. To watch the presentation, my husband Steve and I both turned sideways. We were facing each other and turning to watch the presentation.

At some point during the presentation, my legs became uncomfortable. I don’t remember exactly but I either wanted to move my legs so they went under the table, or my legs were already under the table, and I wanted them out of there.

Either way, hubby’s legs were in my way. Without thinking too much about it (obviously), I lifted my leg up over Steve’s leg and placed it where I wanted to go.

I did this when wearing a knee-length dress.

Hubby’s eyes went big and then we both laughed when we realized what I had done.

The rest of the room should be very thankful that my husband was blocking the room from viewing my unladylike maneuver.

I know I am.

The Dress for the Ball

The Dress

A couple of weeks ago, I asked for input on what I should wear to a Valentine’s Ball. Voting was split. My favorite was the purple dress that looks blue in the photo, but hubby didn’t really like that it was purple.

So, the hunt was still on.

I found my dress at JCPenney’s. It came with a little jacket that I didn’t really wear.

We went back to JC Penney to get hubby a shirt to go with his suit. The shirt we found matched the flowers on my dress, and I think the results were good.

The shirt color was questionable at first. When we were first looking at shirts, my husband immediately said no to this blue shirt and a purple one. We looked at a lot of other shirts, mostly dark gray in color, and we looked at a lot of ties.

I eventually suggested the blue shirt and mentioned it would match my dress. I think by that time my husband was tired of shopping and agreed just to be done.

After we went back to the hotel and changed, my husband admitted that he liked the shirt. Although he did say, it was a color he never would have bought on his own.

I don’t have a picture of hubby wearing a suit jacket, but we did get a complimentary photo taken, and he is wearing the jacket in that. It should be coming in the mail.

Me and my husband, Steve

It was a great weekend, and I think my husband looked great in his suit. Here is his pose that inspired my pose in the first picture:

And last but not least, this is my new favorite photo:

Love that Guy

The guy in that photo over there is my husband. He is a GREAT husband, so I am keeping him. The photo was edited by our daughter, so his skin color looks a little different and his eyes are darker in this than they are in real life. But that’s him. A good looking guy.

Today is Valentine’s Day.

We had agreed to not give each other any gifts because we are going out this weekend to a Valentine’s ball and will be staying overnight in a hotel.

Frankly, I am floored that he agreed to do this with me. I didn’t think he would agree to going to a dressy type ball.

That was enough of a gift for me right there, but I wanted to do something special for him too.

We’ve been together since 1989 and married since 1994. In all those years, almost every single card (if not every card) that he gives me has him writing “I love you — Always.”

So this Valentine’s Day, I found a card for him that said “Always” in huge letters right on the cover. It was perfect.

On Valentine’s morning, I gave him my card and a small gift.

He immediately reminded me about our agreement. “I thought we weren’t buying gifts.”

Um. Yeah. Well.

He left for work, and I was working from home. Shortly before noon, the FedEx guy arrived. This wasn’t anything unusual. FedEx drops things off, usually for my husband involving his job, on a daily basis.

But when I opened the door, I immediately realized the delivery was for me.

He’d sent me two stalks of bamboo that had been trained into a heart shape. The whole thing goes into a container that looks like a Chinese take-out container.

I loved it. I’ve always wondered about having a bamboo plant, so I am excited to keep this one alive and growing new shoots. It is quirky and cute and funny and perfect.

I called him immediately to thank him. He tried to claim that he ordered them after I’d given him something that morning, but I knew better.

The information about the bamboo plant says, “Our heart-shaped bamboo comes in a red metallic vase and is incredibly easy to grow. Just add sunlight and water and it will flourish with minimal care.

This translates to “Linda won’t kill it,” right?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Laughing Cows

My girls tried to prank me and found out the laugh was really on them.

My husband and I were cuddled up watching a movie when he decided to make a trip to the kitchen to fix himself some soup for lunch. I asked him to grab me a couple of laughing cows while he was there. I was referring to the Babybel cheese snacks that I frequently eat as a snack.

My husband laughed at my request, but he agreed.

Within seconds, two of my daughters came into my room laughing. I immediately made the connection. There dad was clearly visible behind the girls.

Me: Did your dad tell you to come in here laughing?

Girls: No. Hahahahaha.

Me: I asked him to bring me a couple of laughing cows.

Girls: Jaws dropped. And then they really started laughing as they fell down beside me.

Love This Girl

I love all of my kids, but once in a while I capture a photo that I just love.

This is one:

And another photo I love from the same day:

My son and husband are the two farthest to the left. The other three are cousins.
