What I’m Wearing

I had asked for opinions on various options for me to wear to an upcoming Valentine’s ball. I appreciate all of the input.

I ended up going shopping AGAIN and bought yet another dress (or two). It is that dress that I will be wearing to the ball. I will post pictures of it the day of the ball (or the next day).

The good news? The dress was only $15.

Valentine’s Votes

I am trying to decide what to wear to the ball. I have four choices right now, and I am asking for opinions. The dress on the right is purple not blue. The long dress also comes with a short black jacket, but I think that ends up being a bit too much black:

And before you decide, here are the dresses from the side. I took pictures from the back too, but I’m not going to put those up.

So what do you think?

Should I still be shopping?

Note: The hair is just messy. The boots are just the boots I was wearing today and not the shoes I’d be wearing.

Note #2: My husband said that it looks like different people because the size of me isn’t consistent. That is because of my photographer (my daughter). I didn’t try to fix it in Photoshop either. Sorry. It is what it is.

Vote and explain your choices in the comments. Thanks!

Bariatric Ball

I was trying on dresses today. I have the floor-length velvet formal with the slit up the back, the very short little black dress that scoops across the chest and has two peek-a-boo slits on the long sleeves, or the spaghetti strap hankerchief dress in various shades of orange. I even tried on a prom dress that one of my daughter’s wore last year just because I could.

Why? Because I am going to a real ball. One that requires fancy clothes and involves dinner and dancing. I even have a date (my husband), and we plan on staying overnight at the fancy hotel.

It’s the 6th annual Valentine’s Dance hosted by my physicians. Last year, more than 180 people attended.

I am excited. I just have to figure out what I’m going to wear and what hubby is going to wear.

Do I want to wear something long? Or short?

What would you wear?

I think I like this:

But I am interested in wearing a little black dress as well.

I don’t know what I will wear yet, but I am having fun thinking about it. :)

Elastic Shape

The other day, I purchased two “shaper” type shirts. They are designed to help you hide your belly fat. You can actually buy them for lots of trouble areas, but I find my lower belly to be the part that I like the least about me. This isn’t new. I didn’t like that area before the weight loss either.

First off, it is the belly of a woman who was pregnant four times. It has the stretch marks to prove it. This is not attractive.

Next, it is now droopy like a deflated balloon. Not attractive.

And some of my jeans take this excess skin and push it up over the top of my pants creating a muffin top. I can’t believe I am worrying about a muffin top, but I do sometimes. Just a few months ago, I would be happy to have a muffin top rather than the gigantic rolls of fat I had.

But still, I want something else. A new goal.

And I figured I’d try something different.

The first time I put on my new shaper tank top, I needed to get help. It had rolled up in the back. There was no way I was going to be able to put it on by myself. I had my husband help me, and it wasn’t easy pulling the thing down my back. Part of the problem was my back was still damp from the shower. Tip #1: don’t try to put these things on when even slightly damp.

It went on, and it worked nicely. Except.

I tried to wear it with it outside my pants, and the first time I sat down, it rolled up my belly. I pulled it down, and it rolled up again.

I figured out it wouldn’t do this if I tucked it into my pants. This worked.

And the next day, with a completely dry back, I was able to put it on without help from my husband.

I’m not sure I’ll wear it frequently, but I will wear it again.

Also, yesterday, I was talking to a high school friend. In high school, she was always a teeny tiny thing. She asked me how my weight loss was going, and I mentioned I had lost 60 pounds and was wearing size 12s. She said that was great and then shared that she wears size 12s. ;-)

Progress in my Closet

It has finally warmed up in northern Michigan and in response I have pulled out my shorts, capris, and various summer clothes. And just like the last two years, I did not fit into the clothes that I pulled out.

But this year, it was because the clothes I pulled out were too big.

I pulled on one pair of shorts that I wore a lot last year, and I knew I would no longer be able to wear them. The room at the waist was more than five inches. Even a belt wouldn’t help.

I also added new holes in my belt because it needed it again.

Although I hate shopping, I find that Iam a lot less resentful when I am buying new clothes because my old ones are too big. Woohoo!
