Want Fries with That?

I knew this already. Any mom that has fed their children a McDonald’s Happy Meal while in a vehicle knows this, but it didn’t compute like it did after watching this video.

I admit it; I have fed my children McDonald’s food while we were in the vehicle. There was probably a time in my life when it happened more than once a week although that time is not now.

I remember cleaning my vehicle when the kids were young and finding old hard french fries from McDonald’s on the floor of my vehicle, in the cracks of the seats and stuffed into the weirdest places of the car seat. I have even found half-eaten burgers that were at least weeks old.

But I never found mold, mildew or anything that suggested decay. And I didn’t think twice about why that was.

At least not until I watched a video where a woman showed a Happy Meal that is four-years old that doesn’t have any mildew or mold. That isn’t normal. And it makes me sick to my stomach when I realize that whatever is preserving that food — some unknown thing — is something I willingly fed my children. It is not an example of one of my finer moments as a mom.
