Podcast Intervals – The Second Day

Today I completed my second day of Week one in Podcast Intervals. It was harder this time because of my sore muscles.

I had planned to complete this Wednesday, but it turns out Wednesday was nuts. I was working and running children all over the place (mine and other people’s).

I really noticed my ankle today as I did the podcast interval. It is stronger than it was, but it is still pretty weak. As I was running, I was getting pain in the ankle a bit. (This is the ankle I injured and have had three surgeries on.) I can really tell how little I’ve asked of my ankle in the past.

The sorest muscle was in the weirdest place. It bothered me all day yesterday and most of last night. It was in the middle of my back, just under and slightly to the left of my shoulder blade. My husband even checked to make sure it wasn’t bruised there. It wasn’t.

When I started exercising this morning, however, the pain finally went away. It hasn’t returned yet.

I did not do today’s podcast interval exactly like I was supposed to do. I wasn’t able to do all of the running segments, but I planned on doing this first week for two weeks, so I am going to work myself up to it. I did make myself walk fast during the running intervals that I didn’t run, and if you consider how slowly I run, this was pretty much the same thing. Right? OK, so it wasn’t.

When I was all done with the running, I stepped off the treadmill and realized my legs were jelly. It was like I was walking on the moon. I would move my leg just a little bit, and it moved a lot more than the effort I applied would have required. It has been about an hour and my legs are still feeling a little bit moon-walky.

I made a few changes since Monday’s interval. The biggest thing was that today I put my hair up in a ponytail. The other day my hair kept getting in my mouth, and I didn’t want that to happen again.

The other change was I wore my tennis shoes because I finally found them. The other day I was walking and running in my bare feet, which might be why I was in a bit of pain Tuesday. It probably wasn’t a wise move, and I kept worrying I’d lose a pinky toe.
